This object pushes the boundaries between art and design. Although the function as a vase is absolutely given, the usability is extremely limited and as a purely utilitarian object it becomes almost unusable or difficult to use.
The title “Handle with care” tells us to treat the object with caution and care. Not to damage it but to avoid hurting ourselves.
“I discovered this shards-thing for the first time as a child on holiday in Italy. Shards protrude from the top of the walls. Brown, green, blue and transparent. It looked beautiful, especially with the sun shining on it. I didn't understand the purpose at the time and I had forgotten about it for so long because you don't see that in Germany. It came back to mind seeing this technique again during a trip to India in 2019. And the idea of making an object with this as a concept lived rent free in my notebook for almost 3 years."
